Clinical Psychologist working with Children, Adolescents and Adults.

Lisa has been a Clinical Psychologist since August 2011 and brings to DS Psychology Group specific skill and extensive experience within the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry area. Over the past 5 years Lisa has worked extensively with children, adolescents and youth within a public health setting, specifically The Monash Health Early in Life Mental Health Service. Lisa’s initial roles have included facilitating and developing group therapy programs aimed at assisting adolescents with emotion regulation, social skills, school refusal, low self-esteem and behavioural problems. Other roles have included providing assessment, short term and long term individual therapy to children and adolescents for issues such as depression, anxiety, autistic spectrum conditions, family and friendship issues, suicidal ideation and self-harm, school stress, trauma and grief. Working within these teams Lisa developed considerable care and skill in supporting parents and families with the often overwhelming task of caring for young people with mental health difficulties and assisting them with strategies aimed at supporting their child’s recovery.

In her most recent position Lisa worked as the senior clinical psychologist and consultant for the Early Psychosis team, specialising in treating adolescents and youth experiencing a range of psychotic related disorders, including Schizophrenia and Bipolar affective disorder. Lisa now has a specific passion and interest in working with these conditions as she empowers them to take charge of their wellbeing and work towards fulfilling life goals. More recently Lisa has commenced her career in private practice settings building on her positive work with children and young people, as well as working with adults with concerns relating to adjustment, parenting, bipolar, trauma, relationships, personality disorders and has also worked effectively with women experiencing perinatal mental health difficulties.

Lisa’s philosophy in supporting clients involves a collaborative experience in setting therapeutic goals and allowing clients to feel safe and supported throughout their therapeutic journey. In working with young people a strong collaborative approach with family and other support people is a particular focus as this can assist in enhancing relationships and help provide an extra layer of support during the treatment process. Lisa is a caring and competent professional who has a European background, has worked with many culturally diverse families, is sensitive to cultural traditions and values and considers this in all aspects of the clinical treatment process.
