Leanne brings to DS Psychology Group experience working with complex child, adolescent and adult presentations. Leanne has a Masters in Clinical Psychology, has experience conducting group and individual counselling and has worked in both adult and child hospital inpatient/outpatient settings. Leeanne trained in Queensland at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital working in both the Consultation Liaison and Child Inpatient Unit. Leanne developed knowledge and experience with child and adolescent mental health including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, self-harm, sleep disturbance, school refusal, behavioural issues and neurodevelopmental disorders. Leanne works with the young person to support and develop their self-awareness, build resilience and make positive change. When working with children, Leanne works with the child and their parents/carers to support the young person in the context of their family and social environment.

Leanne has a special interest in health psychology presentations and has experience working with eating disorders, functional neurological disorders, and tic disorders. She has also conducted research in program evaluation targeting the treatment of eating disorders and has a special interest in obsessive-compulsive disorder. Leanne also has experience in the assessment and treatment of adults who have experienced mood disorders, grief, trauma, substance use disorders, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, work and academic stress, anger management issues and stress related to life transitions.

Leanne has a calm and warm therapy style and works collaboratively with her clients to empower them to reach their goals. She uses evidence-based approaches to assist adults in understanding the nature of their concerns and target the mechanisms that are maintaining their issue or distress. Leanne provides a supportive and compassionate therapeutic relationship. Her collaborative approach supports clients to make long-term change and learn practical skills to work adaptively with difficult thoughts/feelings. Leanne offers a range of psychotherapies to suit individual needs including Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
