James is a provisional psychologist working with people from adolescence through to adulthood. He takes a laid back and friendly approach to client interaction to build a therapeutic relationship that is comfortable and judgement free.
He believes that the client is the expert in their own life and rather than give direction, he seeks to walk alongside them as they work on better understanding themselves and identifying and seeking out joy in their lives.
James comes to DS Psychology following a 13-year career in the Australian Defence Force. His time in the military and particularly his time as a team leader helped him gain insight into the effects of stress and pressure in a high demand, high stakes work environment. This has fostered in James a special interest in helping people to develop resilience, self-compassion, and to embrace their own unique value.
