Gigi is a Registered Psychologist and brings to DS Psychology a warm, empathetic, and client-centred approach when working with children, adolescents, and young adults.
Gigi is experienced in providing psycho-educational assessments and evidence-based interventions for a range of learning, emotional and developmental concerns. These include learning difficulties, anxiety, depression, academic stress, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), grief, and friendship and relationship issues.
Gigi has experience working in multiple settings, including public, private practice, and school settings in Australia and Hong Kong. Gigi has six years’ experience working as an early childhood educator, and she had also worked for some large-scale research projects in developing evidence-based early intervention programs. Gigi’s multilingual proficiency (with Cantonese being her native language, she can also speak conversational Mandarin) enables her to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Gigi’s therapeutic approach is strength-based and draws on evidence-based practice, which include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), specifically tailored to her clients’ individual needs.
Besides, Gigi has a special interest in working with young girls and women on the Autism Spectrum. As girls and women on the Spectrum can often ‘slip under the radar’ as they are better able to mask their difficulties, Gigi appreciates her clients’ help-seeking as a strong and courageous action. She endeavours to provide her clients with a safe and non-judgemental environment to identify their unique strengths and abilities and work towards their therapeutic goals.
