Registered Psychologist
(MAPS)

BSc(Psych), PGDip(Psych), DPsych(Couns Psych)

Danielle has been a registered psychologist since 2009, has completed a Doctorate of Psychology (Counselling) and has extensive experience within community health, medical and private practice settings across rural Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne. She has worked with a wide range of age groups providing counselling to children (6+), adolescents and adults.

Danielle’s commenced her career within community mental health settings working with clients presenting with anxiety and panic, OCD, adjustment issues, trauma and grief and loss. Danielle has a special interest in working with panic disorder; through conducting her Doctoral thesis in this area Danielle developed a sophisticated understanding and appreciation of the debilitating consequences of panic disorder left untreated and is therefore highly committed to working to improve the daily quality of life of clients presenting with panic symptoms.

Danielle’s subsequent role included clinical practice in rural settings working with vulnerable client groups helping with concerns such as isolation, trauma, depression, and relationship conflict and bipolar. Danielle has also worked extensively in private practice seeing children in relation to a range of issues such as academic stress, bullying, behavioural issues, and family breakdown; as well as adolescents presenting with self-harm, low self-esteem, disordered eating, body image issues, and interpersonal conflict. She also had specific experience in facilitating a group program for at-risk adolescent girls.

Through this work Danielle has developed a passion in helping clients experiencing body image issues and disordered eating. Danielle completed postgraduate research through Monash University in the form of an early intervention program conducted in several rural Victorian schools, educating school staff about the signs and symptoms of eating disorders and linking them to services in their region. She has also worked with Eating Disorders Victoria as a telephone counsellor providing support to sufferers and their families alike.

Danielle values the importance of fostering a warm, supportive and collaborative environment in which to conduct treatment. Danielle takes a positive approach to her counselling, where she balances targeting problem areas with unravelling possibilities for a better future. She is passionate about assisting her clients in reaching their goals and draws upon a variety of evidence based approaches, which she tailors to the individual needs of clients. Danielle is able to work with short term goals and help clients with symptom reduction or support clients long term as they also address the underlying contributors to their symptoms and aim for meaningful changes in their lives.
