Cathy has a Masters in Clinical Neuropsychology and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the College of Clinical Neuropsychologists (CCN). She has extensive knowledge and experience working with adults in public health, community and forensic settings, who present from diverse backgrounds, with a range of conditions, including acquired brain injury (ABI), neurodegenerative conditions (like dementia), stroke, developmental disorders and mental health difficulties.
Cathy is able to carry out neuropsychological assessments in response to a wide range of referral questions, including those related to general cognitive characterisation and support strategies, diagnostic clarification, decision making capacity, strategies for return to work or study and comment on eligibility for disability supports and services, including NDIS eligibility. She is also able prepare reports for Court purposes, and working with people in custody to inform post-release supports and services. She has an understanding of the unique complexities of conducting interpreter facilitated neuropsychological assessments and has a particular interest in working with people who have an acquired brain injury, due to alcohol or drug use, or other causes.
Cathy believes that neuropsychological assessment can play an important role in helping people understand their individual strengths and weakness. She feels that respecting each person’s lived experience is essential in developing a collaborative and engaging therapeutic relationship and works collaboratively with a person, their carers and other services, to understand how their unique history and experiences may be impacting on their cognition and overall functioning. Following an assessment, Cathy prepares a comprehensive report that describes a person’s strengths, as well as recommendations and strategies to support areas of weakness.
Cathy grew up in regional Victoria. She has been married since 2009 and has one son. She works part time, and is available on Monday’s for assessments at our Ringwood office.
Cathy will be available for neuro assessments Monday mornings.
