Alex is a provisional psychologist who is passionate about supporting people struggling with mental health concerns to achieve therapeutic change and move towards living the life they choose. Alex is collaborative, empathic and compassionate in her approach and places considerable importance on providing a safe, non-judgemental environment to explore, reflect, learn and grow.
Alex comes to DS Psychology with experience working in the Child Protection sector, particularly with young people living in and out of home care and residential settings, most often with trauma backgrounds. Alex utilises a client-centred, strength-based and trauma-informed approach to develop and maintain psychological health and wellbeing.
Alex believes that by developing a better understanding of the way that we think, feel, and behave, we can improve the way we feel about, and connect with ourselves, others, and our environment. Alex uses evidence-based treatments tailored to the needs and goals of each client to help achieve insight in these key areas.
Alex is keen to support adolescents, adults, and older adults struggling to manage low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, stress, change and trauma, as well as those who may be experiencing emotion regulation difficulties, or social/interpersonal difficulties.
